Datuk Chua graduated from the University of Birmingham, England in 1980 with honours degree in Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting). He went on to pursue his training with Peat, Marwick Mitchell & Co., Chartered Accountants at their Birmingham office and subsequently qualified as a chartered accountant (England & Wales) in 1983; continuing his post qualification experience as a supervising senior until late 1985.
In early 1986, Datuk Chua was employed as a manager with Price Waterhouse's Kuala Lumpur office overseeing the audit and financial planning aspects of both listed and unlisted companies under its audit structural framework.
Soon after, Datuk Chua left to set up his own practise, T.H.Chua & Co., Chartered Accountants in his hometown of Muar, Johor, Malaysia which has grown from strength to strength over the years to what it is today.
Datuk Chua was the youngest fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) qualified and residing in Malaysia in 1994.
